Caribbean the way it’s
meant to feel.
Sea turtles, hidden coves, parasailing over turquoise water, and sunsets that make you forget what day it is. We lived this trip — we know what makes it unforgettable and what ruins it.

We didn’t research
St. Thomas.
We lived it.
There’s a difference between a travel agent who’s read about a destination and one who’s been there — rented the dinghy, snorkeled with the turtles, parasailed 400 feet above the water, and watched the kind of sunset that makes you go quiet.
We built this package from our own experience, not a brochure or a commission deal. Every accommodation, every activity, and every operator we recommend is something we’ve personally vetted. We know what’s worth it and what’s a tourist trap — because we made some of those mistakes ourselves so you don’t have to.
That’s the Traveling Turtle difference: research-backed and experience-earned. Your trip isn’t a guess. It’s a proven itinerary from people who’ve already been there.
Here
The experiences that
change something.
This isn’t a list of tourist brochure activities. These are the things we did — the ones that become the stories you tell when you get home.
Snorkel With Sea Turtles
Not metaphorical. Actual sea turtles that will swim directly toward you and have no interest in your busy life back home. Professional guides take you to spots the resort tours don’t bother with. This is the moment everyone talks about.
Parasail 400 Feet Up
You will scream. Then you’ll go quiet. Then you’ll understand why people come back to St. Thomas. The view from up there — turquoise water in every direction, the island small beneath you — is the kind of perspective shift you can’t get at home.
Get Lost on a Dinghy
Rent a boat, pick a direction, find a cove. No tour, no schedule, no other people. Just water so clear you can see the sandy bottom 30 feet down and the silence that only exists when you’re genuinely away from everything. This was our favorite day.
Three ways to do
St. Thomas right.
Choose your duration. Every package is built from our actual experience — the activities we did, the accommodation we stayed in, the operators we trust.
5 Days · 4 Nights
Enough time to fully unplug, experience everything St. Thomas does best, and remember what vacation is supposed to feel like. This is our most popular option.
7 Days · 6 Nights
This is the version we’d book again. Two extra days means a full dinghy day with nowhere to be, more time on the water, and the rare feeling of actually being rested when you leave.
Fully Custom
Want to stay longer? Need different activities? Bringing a group? Celebrating something specific? Tell us what you’re after and we’ll build it from the ground up — still anchored in the experience we actually had.

A note on flights
Flights to St. Thomas (STT) aren’t included in the package price — but they’re often more affordable than you’d expect, especially from Pacific Northwest and Mountain West cities. What our travelers say
We almost skipped the dinghy day because it felt unnecessary. It was the best day of the entire trip. Derrek told us not to skip it — he was right. That’s the kind of advice you only get from someone who’s actually been there.
I kept waiting for the catch. There wasn’t one. The accommodation was exactly what they said, every activity was exactly what they described, and they were genuinely available the whole time. No surprises — which is the best thing I can say about a trip I was nervous to plan.
The snorkeling with sea turtles is not an exaggeration. I’ve done snorkeling tours before that promised this and delivered nothing. This one delivered. We were surrounded. My wife cried a little and I’m not telling anyone which one of us it was.
No pressure. Just conversation.

Adventure travelers who
happen to plan trips.
Traveling Turtle exists for one reason: to help adventure travelers get to tropical destinations without the frustration of unforeseen obstacles stealing the experience they imagined.
We’ve been to St. Thomas. We rented that dinghy. We found those turtles. We parasailed and watched those sunsets. When we recommend an operator or a route or a hidden cove, it’s because we’ve been there — not because we read a good review or got a commission.
With 14 years of psychology background and a genuine belief that adventure builds connection, we approach trip planning differently. We’re not matching you to a template. We’re building an experience from real knowledge — so you arrive ready to live it, not manage it.
Is St. Thomas right for you?
We’ll always be straight with you. Here’s who this trip was built for — and who it probably isn’t.
- You want adventure and relaxation — not just a resort pool
- You’re traveling as a couple and want something that creates real connection
- You’d rather have an expert handle the planning than spend weeks researching it yourself
- You want someone who’s actually been there — not just booked it
- The idea of snorkeling with sea turtles or drifting into a hidden cove sounds like exactly what you need
- You don’t have a passport or don’t want to deal with international travel logistics
- You’re serious about going — not just saving it for someday
- You want a completely all-inclusive resort experience where everything is on-property
- You have no interest in water activities — this trip is built around the ocean
- You need every meal included and pre-arranged
- You want a fully guided, every-hour-scheduled tour experience
- St. Thomas is vaguely on your list but you’re not genuinely excited yet
“We’re not selling you something you’ll regret. We’re building a trip you’ll never stop talking about.”
Answers before you ask
Really. St. Thomas is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands — a U.S. territory. If you’re a U.S. citizen, a valid driver’s license or government-issued ID is all you need. No passport application, no waiting period, no additional fees. It’s one of the best things about this destination and one of the most underappreciated facts about it.
We’ve found that separating flights actually saves most clients money. Flight prices vary dramatically by departure city, travel dates, and how far in advance you book. By not bundling flights, you have the flexibility to find the best fare for your specific situation rather than paying a markup on a pre-packaged flight. We’ll share our tips for finding good fares to St. Thomas (STT) on your consultation call — most clients from the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West find roundtrips under $300.
St. Thomas is genuinely beautiful year-round — that’s one of the Caribbean’s advantages over more weather-dependent destinations.
- December–April (peak season): Near-perfect weather, warm and dry. Most popular, slightly higher rates, but worth it for reliability.
- May–November (off-peak): Warmer, more humid, occasional showers — but significantly fewer crowds and better deals. Hurricane season technically runs June–November, but direct hits are relatively rare. If you want the island mostly to yourself, this is when to go.
We’ll help you find the best timing for your schedule and budget on your consultation call.
The packages are designed with couples in mind — the activities, accommodation, and pricing structure all reflect that. But we happily build custom packages for solo travelers, friend groups, and families. The core experiences (snorkeling, parasailing, dinghy days, beaches) are excellent for anyone. Just mention your group situation on the consultation form and we’ll build accordingly.
A $200 deposit locks your spot and your price. It’s applied in full toward your package balance — it’s not a fee. You have a 72-hour full refund window from the time of deposit if you change your mind. After 72 hours, the deposit is non-refundable as we’ve already begun booking. Specific cancellation terms for your remaining balance will be outlined clearly before you commit any additional payment. We always recommend purchasing travel insurance for full trip protection.
Yes — the packages are starting points, not rigid structures. Want to extend your stay? Add a specific activity? Upgrade the accommodation? Bring a larger group? We’ll build exactly what you need, still anchored in our actual experience of the island so you’re getting recommendations that have been tested, not guessed. Just tell us your vision on the consultation form and we’ll bring it to life.
